Welcome: Psalm 9:10

Another summery day in Florida! I was really busy this past week so today's post will be short. Short or long - busy or not -  I am always happy when it is time for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ .

Our ever faithful and sweet Rebekka is our challenge hostess this week. That verse is Psalm 9:10.

"Those who know your name will trust in You, for You, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek You. --"
This is one of those verses that really does speak to all of us. I, Miesje, know His name, I, Miesje, trust in Him and He has never forsaken me, Miesje. My God is an Awesome God!!!!

The challenge this week is to create a card or project that has a minimum of 3 buttons on it. The buttons secure - great symbolism in that. I made this card for my niece (whose name is Miesje) who is having a baby girl in a few weeks. Purple is her color of choice. Can you tell?

Our sponsor this week is Whiff of Joy. They will be giving this adorable image to the winner.

Be sure to stop by my SSIC design sisters to see what they have to share this week:

Grace Nywening: Th-INK-ing of You
Lisa Hjulberg: The Craft's Meow
Peggysue Turner: Roses By My Window
Rebekka Reed: Diamond in the Rough
Randi Barret: A New Creation (On break)

So glad you stopped by today. Have a wonderful week filled with blessings.

CSS - Treasure Chest Blog Hop 2-25-2011

Yeah! It is another StampTV blog hop and this time it is an Animal Kingdom Challenge blog hop. We were asked to choose any animal from any of GinaK's stamp set. I did not realize how many stamp sets have animals in it! WOW! So many choices!

So after looking through the list of stamp sets with animals and not being able to decide I thought about what card I would need soon so I chose Out West which was designed by Theresa and sold by GinaK. My husband and I were blessed with 8 children - all adopted & all very different! One of our sons is a farrier by trade and horses are his love. He has a birthday coming up so this card will be for him.

I stamped the image on Pure Luxury White and then colored the image with Copics. After using one of my Nestabilities I sponged around the image with Vivid Taupe. I then used the lattice square Nestabilities to place behind the horse and ran some twine though the loops and curled them on opposite corners. I stamped the rope from GinaK's Guiding Light and the sentiment is from Candles on my Cake, also from GinaK. I added some silver brads and a cowboy boot charm. The layers are Pure Luxury Ivory and Tan Leather.

You should have arrived from Melissa Schultz blog and you were undoubtedly blown away! If you want to start at the beginning  or get lost along the way, just head on over to the home page of StampTV.

Now hop on over to visit Pam Imholz  for some more inspiration. Thanks for hopping along with us and for the kind comments you leave. It is good to be back!

Oh, don't forget to leave comments as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (March 1st), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs who will get a stamp set of their choice valued up to $24.95!

I also entered this card in the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge.

Old Friends

To see the Stampin Sisters in Christ post please scroll down to the Sunday post!

I really love these soft spring colors. The Kraft color seemed to compliment it well too.

I stamped the image on colored paper from Basic Grey. I twas a very faint shading and I really like how that turned out. I colored the image very lightly with Copics so that it wouldn't bleed through. I used the same paper for the sentiment. The ribbon and bow was from a collection of bows that I had - I just took one bow apart and used it as a ribbon. Oh we card-makers are a crafty bunch of skin-flints aren't we? Hee, hee!

Thanks for looking and for the comments!

Dino-Mite Birthday

To see the Stampin Sisters in Christ post please scroll down to the Sunday post!

Birthday cards for kids are always on my list of cards to make. Lots of little ones in my family! I thought this would be right up the alley for one of my grandsons! Boys like dinosaurs!

I also made this card for the release challenges on StampTV and for the Card Patterns 2 year birthday. I stamped just the heads of the dinosuars and used the circle nesties to cut them out and backed them on some circles. I used double tags on the sentiment to help it stand out.

Thanks for looking and for the comments!

Doodle Daisy: Exodus 8: 9-11

Oh my dear friends this is a beautiful Sunday! Spring has sprung in Florida and we are enjoying every minute of it! It is once again time for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ .

On this glorious weekend PeggySue chose the scripture and challenge. That verse is Exodus 8: 9-11.

"...and the Lord did as Moses had asked. The frogs in the houses and courtyards and fields died off. Heaps and heaps of them were gathered up, and there was a stench in the land. But when Pharaoh saw that there was a respite, he became obdurate and would not listen to them, just as the Lord had foretold." New American Bible (Saint Joseph Edition)
Goodness - that is a lot to think about isn't it? Sometimes we can't help but think that we are living in a difficult time. Prices are high so is employment. There is unrest in many parts of the world and God is sometimes hard to find in many of our leaders. Yet those times certainly weren't a piece of cake either! Those were horrible plagues set upon the land - yet the Lord was with them and He did listen.

The challenge this week is to create a card or project that has green on it.I had a lot of fun with this free image that I downloaded from Doodle Pantry. I printed it several times on both white cardstock and on two different designer papers. I used a nestibility die for the butterfly and some fibers for the center of the flower. I popped up the petals and the leaves to give it some dimension.

Our sponsor this week is Doodle Pantry. They will be giving a $10 gift certificate to the winner. They have some really cute images - even a few free ones! The card I made was with a free image of the daisy - isn't it adorable?

Be sure to stop by my SSIC design sisters to see what they have to share this week:

Peggysue Turner: Roses By My Window

Smile

Orange is really not one of my favorite colors but it is rather striking with the gray. I embossed the trees and the word "smile" with some silver and added some silver buttons that I found in my bunch of old button container. The most interesting thing was the round blossom popped up image. I found that orange flower and wanted to use it somehow. It took some experimenting but I do like how it turned out. Here is a close up of the layers.

The designer paper is from Basic Grey - called Ambrosia.

Take a Moment

To see the Stampin Sisters in Christ post please scroll down to the Sunday post!

I won this adorable stamp set from Speedy the Cat Challenges! So last night I had to make a card with it. I love that teacup and the sentiment is wonderful.

I got the patterned paper from Jennie (thanks!) and the ribbon I had. I stamped the teacup onto patterned paper and just used a little bit of marker time on the flowers. I used a cuttlebug folder on the center strip of gray.

Love Gives: Hebrews 13:5

Happy Sunday and time for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ .

It is our wonderful Patti's turn for the scripture and challenge choice. She chose Hebrews 13:5 - wonderful choice Patti - a great reminder to all of us.

"Keep your lives free from the love of money, and be satisfied with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you." - NIV

I believe that we, as a generation, are very much into having the best and the newest. I too fall to that. We (Stampin Sisters in Christ Design Team) recently had a discussion about that. How do we decide how many new stamps, new DP, new embellishments, and now the fabulous new nestabilities do we need? All of you fellow stampers know that dilemma! And I have to be honest - I am very guilty of wanting more! I think the difference is that if our budget would not allow it I would not be buying it. These days too many people have gotten themselves into financial difficulties with bigger houses, nicer cars, fantastic vacations etc. My DH and I know that God has never left us nor forsaken us. We always seemed to have just enough money to pay for one more adoption, one more child in Catholic school, food on the table and a house that kept us safe.Trusting in God is the ultimate challenge!

The challenge this week is to create a KISS (keep it simple sisters) card or project - a one layer card.

Our sponsor this week is Simon Says Stamps who generously are giving the winner an adorable stamp set!

Be sure to stop by my SSIC design sisters to see what they have to share this week:

CSS Inspiration Blog Hop

It is time for another Stamp TV CSS Blog Hop. This time around it is an inspiration challenge. We were challenged to create a card or project based on this photograph from Southern Living.

And this is the card I came up with.

You should have arrived from Melissa Schultz blog and I am sure that it was a great project - she always amazes me.  If you want to start at the beginning  or get lost along the way, just head on over to the home page of StampTV or here for the direct link to the hop!

The card was made using 2 stamp sets. The circle and sentiment in the middle was from The Giving Tree and the flourishes are from the Grand Damask set both sold by GinaK. I took several elements from the photograph. I have the Pure Luxury Cranberry Tart on the bottom which I had scored and then stamped and embossed with the flourishes. The main image and sentiment was also embossed with gold. I had a Sizzix leafy die cut that I cut out of gold to use around the image. I used a Spellbinders Impressibility for the background panel and sponged some burgundy ink on it. In the 2 corners I used the 3 decorations on the dresser of the picture and placed them as a finishing touch. This might sound silly but that took me a while to come up with. It needed something and that was it.

Now hop on over to visit Sharri Seffens  for some more inspiration. I am quite certain she has an amazing project to share.

I just love getting comments so please leave one!

Gleefully Yours

To see the Stampin Sisters in Christ post please scroll down to the Sunday post!

I know that these are not traditional Valentine Day colors or image - but it works for this one. These were not my color choices they were a challenge on StampTV and I like to conquer a challenge! I used black embossing powder for the Victrola image. Love how it turned out. I cut around the sentiment because I did not want it to take away from the image.

Great Love: I John 3:18

Hello February - the month where hearts are everywhere. Every classroom at my school has hearts on the windows and hearts floating from the ceilings. The month of love. Welcome to another Sunday and another challenge at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ .

It is my week to have the honor and pleasure of being your challenge hostess. The scripture I chose for this week is I John 3:18.
"Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth."(New American Bible - St. Joseph Edition)
Please check the Stampin' Sisters in Christ page to read my full devotional. I wanted to share a little thought with you here too though. Do you see that cute little Tildy with her arms outstretched? That reminded me so much of when my children were little and they (and I) would stretch our arms out and say "I love you soooooo much". Wow - that was and is a powerful love! That is how much Jesus loves us - that is how he asks us to love others. Soooooooo much!

The challenge this week is to create a card or project that shows love without using words. I floated some hearts around the image that I had embossed on some vellum. I cut them out and popped them up. It is really a simple card although it really did take me a while to finish. I kept thinking it needed more - more embellishments - more color - more something. I was not happy with the picture but it is a dreary rainy day here today and this is the best I could get.

Our sponsor this week is Clear Dollar Stamps with a $15 gift certificate to spend on their stamps.

Be sure to stop by my SSIC design sisters to see what they have to share this week:
