Christmas Ornaments

** To see the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge please scroll down. **

Another Christmas card - I am on a roll! Sure wish I had more time! This card was made for a few challenges and I really do like how it turned out. I didn't expect to like it (I am more of a traditionalist) but I do.

I used the Nestie on the Ocean Mist then cut out the center. I then stamped the ornaments on white twice. The first was used behind the Nestie and the second I colored and cut out each ornament and popped it up. I also popped up the frame. I used a Cuttlebug folder on the green panel.

Warm Christmas

** To see the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge please scroll down. **

I am falling behind in my Christmas cards so now I am playing catch up. I am also trying to get a few challenges in! Today's card just came together. The most difficult thing on this card was cutting out the bow and holly on the candle. I sponged around the edges just a bit on the candle image and the sentiment with green. I used some vintage looking paper (with the dots on it) that I found in a clearance bin at Target. It is from Making Memories and the package had been damaged. Still worked well for me! :-)

I colored the image using Copics and some gold Stickles for the flame. I had some of the red pearls, used Nesties for the images and a Stampin Up scallop punch.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Gina K's - Light of the Season
Paper: Gina K Pure Luxury Lipstick Red and  Fresh Asparagus
Specialty Paper: Making Memories
Other: Ribbon, peals, Copic Markers, Nesties

Challenges Entered:
Stamp TV - Sketch Challenge
Color Throwdown - Colors - reddish - greenish - yellowish
Mark's Finest Papers - Add a bow

Congratulations: Philippians 4:13

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with our family. The leftovers have been picked over and are almost all gone and another work week is about to begin.
I welcome you back for another challenge from Stampin' Sisters in Christ.

Today Lisa is the challenge hostess and the scripture she chose is Philippians 4: 13.
"I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me."
Today is the first Sunday of Advent. The term "advent" means "coming". It is the time when we prepare ourselves for the coming of Jesus. I love this season in the church, the sights, the smells, the people, the songs. Each and every aspect of it is a reminder that it is Jesus that strengthens me. It is also a constant reminder of what is most important this time of year. That is to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus.
Be sure to stop by my SSIC design sisters to see what they have to share this week:

CSS Inspiration Blog Hop

It is time for another Stamp TV CSS Blog Hop. So while the turkey leftovers wait to be consumed and the Christmas shopping season has officially begun, grab a cup of pumpkin spice coffee and enjoy the cards from the CSS team members. You won't be disappointed. This time the blog hop is an inspiration challenge from the photo below:

And this is the card I made.

You should have arrived from Melissa Schultz blog and I am quite certain that she shared another incredible creation. If you want to start at the beginning just head on over to the home page of StampTV.

For my card I decided to go with the colors from the photo and I also thought that the jar from Melanie's Buds and Vases stamp set would go very nicely.   The card base is Pure Luxury White and I also used Gina K Pure Luxury Red Hot and used a Cuttlebug folder to create the circle background. I stamped the jar on the white and cut it out. I "filled" the jar with some buttons. I used a half of a doily that I purchased from an Etsy shop added some ribbon and a brad. The  flower in the corner was just something I had picked up once. The colors are very much like the photo.

Now hop on over to visit Peggy Wainman for what I am sure will be another amazing card. I sure am glad you stopped by and for leaving a comment! See you again soon.

Giving Thanks: Psalm 107:1

Sunday once again, I hope you all had a good week. Tonight one of our sons is arriving for the Thanksgiving Holiday with another son and his family arriving on Wednesday. Others we will see on Thursday. I am always so thankful to have time with my family. I welcome you back for another challenge from Stampin' Sisters in Christ.

Today I am the challenge hostess and the scripture I chose is Psalm 107:1.
"Give thanks to the Lord for He is good; His love endures forever."
Hopefully you read my devotional on this scripture on Stampin' Sisters in Christ's home page. If you did you know why I chose the image for the card that I made for this week. I think that my mind is on my grandchildren and the total trust that they, and most children, have that their prayers are heard. Perhaps it is because they do pray with the innocence of youth. We grown ups have a tendency to complicate our prayers. It is a good thing that God knows what is in our hearts because I think I talk way too much! So today I pray, "Thank you God for family, thank you God for the food that we eat, and the many blessings you shower me with. Amen"
This week we welcome a new sponsor, Serendipity Stamps!!  One of you lucky ladies will win this beautiful stamp set for playing in this week's challenge! The challenge is to create a card that shows your thankfulness to God. A thank you card.

Christmas Peace: John 3:30

Happy Sunday and what a glorious day it is! Welcome back for another challenge from Stampin' Sisters in Christ. It is not yet Thanksgiving and we are already being bombarded with advertisements to buy now for Christmas. Sigh - can't I just enjoy Thanksgiving first!

Today our challenge hostess is Grace and the scripture she chose is John 3:30.
"He must increase; I must decrease".
Oh how true that is especially this time of the year! I want the upcoming Thanksgiving Day to be perfect with every one of my family members happy to be together and thankful for our many blessings. I want to start thinking of the perfect gifts for our children and grandchildren for Christmas. I suppose I want to live the Hallmark movie concept of "The Holiday Season". What I struggle with is the fact that I am not living the Hallmark version of the perfect life because I am not perfect (shocker isn't it?). I have to decrease so that He will increase. The more I expect my idea of perfect to make me and others happy the less I open my heart to every wonderful non-perfect moment as a wonderful blessing from God.

This week our sponsor is once again Simon Says Stamps. Grace gave us 2 choices this week:1. Make a CAS card, (representing "you" needing to decrease); or 2. Make a More is More card, (representing that He must INCREASE) or 3. Show us a simple version of a card and then show us the "More is More" version. I did just the CAS version - me needing to decrease!

CSS Color Blog Hop

Yeah - another Stamp TV CSS Blog Hop.This time it is a color challenge, such fun!  Create a card or project using the following color combo:
  • White or Ivory
  • Brown
  • Light Blue (Little Boy Blue)
  • Yellow (Sweet Corn)

You should have arrived from Melissa Cash blog and I am quite sure that she shared another incredible creation. If you want to start at the beginning just head on over to the home page of StampTV.

I used Theresa's Fanciful Fall and Autumn Beauty for this card.  The card base is Pure Luxury Little Boy Blue and I also used Gina K Pure Luxury Sweet Corn, Brown and Ivory. I stamped the main image from Fanciful Fall then sponged around it twice, once with blue and then in the center with yellow. I stamped the wheel barrow and sunflowers from Autumn Beauty and  carefully cut them out and popped up some of the sunflowers. The strip of DP was from Cosmo Cricket called Circa 1934. I love this paper and I like how it complimented the colors!

Now hop on over to visit Sharri Seffens for what I am sure will be another amazing card. I sure am glad you stopped by and for leaving a comment! Have a great weekend!

Winter Trees

Oh how fun to make a card from a mistake. That's right, I made a mistake. The Spellbinder Medallion just didn't cut all the way through the card stock. I almost threw it away - the the three trees was also in my toss away basket. The DP came in the mail YEAH and when I was looking through it this paper just popped out at me and this card was born. Not bad huh?

This card was made for the following challenges:

Mark's Finest Papers: paper piercing
Paper Sundaes : Snow

Thanks for the visit!

Golden Trumpet

Another Christmas card, there are a lot for me to make so it is nice when I can fit a challenge or two into it. This was for JUGS (sketch) and StampTV (color). Also for ODBD (used gold cord). This turned out to be a pretty simple card but I do like the way it turned out.

I just love those labels from Nina B - sold by Gina K. The designer paper was from Basic Grey called Jovial. Didn't that work well with the color challenge? It was simple to just add a few gold brads and some ribbon. Card done - quick and easy. So happy when that happens!

Thanks for the visit - may have another one tomorrow - I am on a roll!

Florida Snowman

*** This is my second post today - for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge card please scroll down.

This card was fun for me to make. It was really for a challenge on StampTV to make a non traditional colored Christmas card. Well, I decided to go totally non-traditional and build a snowman out of sand using sand colored Flowersoft. It really turned out better than I thought it would and certainly is non traditional.

It is also for a challenge on Little Paper Shop to use a button and a bow and The Paper Players to use a snowman (hope sandman is okay). ABC Christmas Challenge wanted winter. This is our winter! And last but not least is the challenge from Belli Challenges to use Flowersoft.

I stamped the images on Gina K Pure Luxury Mother of Pearl (hoping for a glittery sheen). I stamped the snowman image twice so that I could pop up the hat and the heart and the scarf. I used the Flowersoft on the sandy beach and for the "sandman" itself. I added the Christmas tree and put some oranges in it so that it was obviously a Florida tree. The waves are from a DP from October Afternoon's Seaside.

Thank you for stopping by.

God Understands: Isaiah 55: 10,11

Happy Sunday and what a glorious day it is! Welcome back for another challenge from Stampin' Sisters in Christ. Florida finally felt a hint of winter today - in fact it is cold! I know, I know we are a little wimpy here!

Today our challenge hostess is our dear Randi and the scripture she chose is from Isaiah 55: 10 and 11.
"For just as from the heavens the rain and snow come down And do not return there till they have watered the earth, making it fertile and fruitful, Giving seed to him who sows and bread to him who eats, So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; It shall not return to me void, but shall do my will, achieving the end for which I sent it."
Sometimes we just don't know how to pray. This might sound a little strange but for me, when I am filled with emotion whether it be anger or sadness or fear, my emotion can get in the way of prayer. I may ask "why" or tell God how it should be fixed (yup, I really do) instead of asking for His will to be done and for acceptance on my part. When I do that I know that God understands, He know my heart. He understands when we question and doubt. He understands when we choose to be selfish or unkind. We are not perfect, we sin again and again and again - and still He understands. And I certainly am glad that He does!

The challenge this week is to make a card or project that shows weather - any kind of weather. I chose winter for mine. I love those birds and the snow on the branch was fun to do with some liquid applique. I colored the bird with Copic markers and and used a white gel pen to highlight the snowflakes.
