B is for....Blessing! - Job 8:21

It is Sunday again and time for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ! I hope you are staying warm - lots of cold spots today - great weather to craft though!

This week it is my turn to be your hostess and the verse chose is one that I really wanted to share this week because it is uplifting - to read the devotion please stop by our home page to read it
"Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing."

We have so much to thank God for and what better way then to fill our mouth with laughter and use our lips to rejoice in our good fortune! I cant think of a better way to show the world that the love our our Lord is in our hearts and that we are willing and happy to share that with everyone!

So my challenge to everyone is to make me smile! Create a happy card - happy news - rejoicing in life. And I don't know of many people who do not smile when they see a baby! I made this card for my grandson who will be born in about 6 weeks! They are decorating his room in cowboys so this rocking horse one is just perfect for him.

I used the sketch from Sketches by Carly this week, it seemed perfect for this card. I distressed the background a bit and decided to step out of what I normally do and decided to sew around the outline. I still have a sore sewing finger! I paper pieced the saddle and lightly colored in the rocking horse.

This week's sponsor is - Our Daily Bread Designs. I love this store - some of the best Christian stamps around! Be sure to stop by and look at their wonderful products.

Don't forget to stop by my SSIC design sisters (listed on the sidebar) to see what they have to share this week.

It is always great to see you, thanks for the comments!

CSS - Inspiration Blog Hop - 2/10/2012

******If you are looking for the WAW/SSIC blog hop please scroll down!

It is another StampTV blog hop. I really enjoy these blog hops, it is such fun to see all the different things everyone comes up with - each one wonderful! This one is an Inspiration Blog Hop, look at this great photo that Karen found for us to use.

You should have arrived from Sharri Seffins blog. I am quite sure that she wowed you!

I had a real hard time with this photo - not sure why because once I got a pep talk from Karen the card just flew together! I focused on the colors and the boats. I created the background using some distress inks on a pad then spritzing it with water before plopping my GKD Pure Luxury Ivory card stock on it. The boat and cattails were colored with the same distress inks and some pen nubs. I backed the stamped image with some GKD Chocolate brown squares and stamped the sentiment (GKD - Whimsical Wishes) just above the boat. Great masculine birthday card I think. The bow was the final touch.

Now hop on over to visit Melissa Shultz! I am sure she has some inspiration for you as well. If you want to start at the beginning  or get lost along the way, just jump directly to the links for all of the wonderful creations on StampTV

Make sure to leave a comment as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (February 14), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs and that person will receive a huge grab bag of fabulous Gina K. Designs Stamps!

WAW Valentine Blog Hop

I am so glad to see you are here for the Word Art Wednesday Valentine Blog Hop! Most of you know me from Stampin Sisters in Christ where we have weekly challenges based on scripture. For this special hop we are joining our new sister site Word Art Wednesday to celebrate Valentine's Day in this special way to share our love of the Lord. John 15:9 "As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; now remain in My love." Great verse that says so much. Here is my card:

I used the verse from WAW for my card. Before I printed it out I stamped an old SU image of the praying hands on the card stock. Not bad lining that up! I then used a Spellbinder die to create the verse as the focal image on the card. I wound some ribbon through the lattice of the die. I used another Spellbinder die for the scalloped pink border. The pretty plaid paper is from GKD's valentine line. A few pop up black dots and a couple of stamped hearts finishes off the card.
Your next stop on this hop is a visit to Paula. I am quite sure that there is a lot more eye candy to see there as with the rest of the stops along the way. If you arrived here by accident and want to start at the beginning of the hop then head on over to Word Art Wednesday where this hop originated. Be sure to leave comments on all the hops for a chance to win this great stamp set from SU. I heard that there are possibly some other prizes along the way!

In order to qualify for the Grand Prize Drawing, you simply need to leave a comment on each blog on the hop list. The winner will be announced on both the WAW and the SSIC blogs on the afternoon of Tuesday, February 14.

I chose to follow the sketch from JUGS for this card.

I hope you enjoyed this hop as much as we enjoyed sharing our "LOVE" for the Lord with you.

My Type

I loved this image when I saw it in the latest StampTV kit. It certainly helped make a cute but simple Valentine's card. I really like that typewriter!
I have always like the colors red, black and white together and Valentines day cards lend themselves to those colors nicely. I used GKD pure luxury black as the base then some white lightly sponged with red. The next panel is from Basic Grey called Out of Print. A little stripe from GKD and then the few embelishments. Fun, simple, and done!

Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate your comments!

Love: John 3:16

Sunday again and time for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week MariLynn is our hostess and the verse she chose is one that I think every Christian knows by "heart" - John 3:16. Be sure to stop by our home page to read her devotion on the scripture this week.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Sometimes I think "love" in an overused word - I know that I use it often. I love this stamp - love your hair - love that dessert! Yet the word LOVE in this verse holds a power that we can only imagine! It reminds of of when my little ones were little (a long time ago) I used to tell them, "I love you THISSSSS much!" with my arms spread out as wide as they could go and then I would scoop them up and hug them to pieces. That is just a fraction of how God loves me and us! AWESOME!

MariLynn challenges us to make a card/project that is related to love. It could be a heart, the word "love" or just something that you love using on your projects.

This week's sponsor is - Sweet n' Sassy Stamps. Check out their store - some really cute digital stamps! The randomly chosen winner will receive 3 of their stamps - good luck!

Don't forget to stop by my SSIC design sisters (listed on the sidebar) to see what they have to share this week.

It is always great to see you, thanks for the comments!

Fun Birthday Card

Oops - I inadvertently overwrote my post from Monday with this one - so sorry! I am uploading the first (deleted) post below this card - it was called Soft Birthday.

Here is another birthday card for one of my family. I really made each card for a specific person. Although I am not going to say here which card is for whom - I have to keep some things secret!
This card was made from one of Theresa's sets called Whimsical Flowers from GinaK. These flowers are such fun to paper piece! I found the sketch at CPS and the paper is from Basic Grey. An easy card to make.

This was the first card. I used GKD Stately Flowers and colored the image very lightly with some soft pink Copics.

Thanks for stopping by! I love comments too!
