Birthday Rose: Psalm 118:6

I just made a simple card this week. I never have enough birthday cards so that or thank you cards are my usual go to cards when I do not have a specific card to make. Once again it is Sunday and time for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week Candace is our challenge hostess and brings us the  verse from Psalm 118:6.
"The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?"

I think we are all afraid of something. For me it is talking in front of a crowd. Kind of strange really since I am a reader at my church. But that is reading God's Word, so it does not make me as nervous. However this past Wednesday I had to give out an award to the student with the highest average in my class. Some of the teachers just share off the cuff, I was a nervous wreck before I got up to the podium. I did overcome it and did just fine.

The challenge this week is; Do something on your card that you're "afraid" of! For example, CAS style, stitching, a vintage look, etc. Just do something you wouldn't normally do!

The thing I am afraid of is the non traditional rectangle card. I do not like square cards and circle cards are also more of a challenge for me. So I made a circle card - I used a Spellbinder die to cut out the circle. There just doesn't seem to be enough room for all the "stuff" I want to put on it!

This week our sponsor is Sweetn' Sassy Stamps, please give them a visit!

Don't forget to stop by my SSIC design sisters (listed on the sidebar) to see what they have to share this week.
It is always great to see you, thanks for the comments and have a wonderful week surrounded with God's love.

Hubby Birthday: Ephesians 4:29

Happy Birthday Jerry! He got the card yesterday which was his actual birthday. He loved the card and even counted the layers! Well, happy Sunday and welcome back for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week the always sweet Traci is our challenge hostess and brings us the  verse from Ephesians 4:29.

"Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
This is such an important verse, not just for the young but for all. I tell students all the time to use nice words to each other. We should always use our words for good - even "casual" joking can be very painful to the person on the receiving end. "Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can never hurt you", is a very wrong statement! In fact we can heal from cuts and bruises but words can hurt for a very, very long time!
This card was made with a great masculine set designed by Tami Mayberry called Masculine Tags.

The challenge this week is; build it up with lots of layers. I hope you can see some of the layers on this card.

This week our sponsor is Tami Mayberry - I love her stamps and this card was made with the stamp set you could win!

Welcome Home Wesley

Three weeks ago our niece had a precious baby boy. He was 7 weeks early and the prayers began! Well, prayers were answered and today he went home! God is good - all the time! He is healthy and perfect! I had made this card several weeks ago but did not want to send it until he was able to go home. It went in the mail this morning. Welcome home Wesley!
I used a wonderfully fun set of stamps from TCM called Owl Be Thinking of You. Isn't it adorable? I used a Cuttlebug folder for the back panel after sponging the folder with some green ink. I then cut out the tree and the owls and placed them over the leaves. I also cut out all of the little hearts. Wesley is very much loved already by so many.

I loosely used the sketch from TCM.

Thanks for stopping and for leaving a comment,

Grateful: Genesis 6:20

Happy Mother's Day to all you mothers out there. This is my first Mother's Day without my mother - I miss her. Yet with missing her I thank God for the wonderful relationship we had and am grateful for every moment we had together. I know she is smiling down at me now! Welcome back for another challenge at Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week the wonderful Peggysue is our challenge hostess and brings us the  verse from Genesis 6:20.

"Two of every kind of bird, of every kind of animal and of every kind of creature that moves along the ground will come to you to be kept alive."
I have to be honest here - I do not like bugs and have been known to not keep a few of them alive. However, I know how much animals, especially pets, mean to people. They are often like one of the family. This past week my son and his wife lost their 15 year old dog, Sammy. They have 4 children (youngest was born last week) and Sammy was like their first child. They got her right after they met. It was very sad. I know many of you can relate to that kind of relationship. In fact Kris just lost her cat this past week too, another long time family member. We Christians love to love - whether it be people and/or animals. We are called to that: in 1 John 4:7 it says, "Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God; everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God."

This card was made with some adorable digital images from Doodle Pantry. Aren't these ants adorable? Even I like these bugs! I colored the images with Copics and used a Sakura glitter pen to add some sparkle.

The challenge this week is; Use any type of animal, bird or bug in your creation.

This week our sponsor is Doodle Pantry with 3 digis to choose
