You're the Best

Ah, I like this one better - tried another technique over on StampTV called Emerging Butterflies! Fun!

I made this for a friend at work who made a wonderful digital wedding scrapbook for my son and his new wife. She is the best!

This technique is called Emerging Butterflies and you can find the challenge here. It was really fun to do.

Poppin Birthday

Do you ever make a card that when you picture it in your mind it is so much better then when you actually make it? I was disappointing in this card but I decided to post it anyway.

I liked the sketch on Card Patterns and I still do like the sketch. I liked the technique on StampTV an I still do like the technique, I probably should have used a different stamp for it - or maybe different colors. Maybe the ribbon messed it up. Either way - not my favorite but will still go to a birthday kid who will probably like it - or the money that is in the envelope! LOL

This technique is called poppin pastels with a twist - the image was stamped with white craft ink then the chalks were used with a sponge dauber. It really was fun!

Friends: Ephesians 5: 8-9

Good morning - I hope you Sunday is starting off wonderfully. I really love weekends, so many great moments to treasure. Thank you for joining us for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week I am bringing you the challenge based on Ephesians 5: 8-9 - to read my full devotion please stop by our home page.

“You were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light, for light produces every kind of goodness and righteousness and truth.”

On the main page I spoke of darkness that sometimes invades our lives and the light of Jesus that can bring us out of that darkness. Right now there is a family in our school that needs prayers to help them out of the darkness. Their 9 year old daughter (a friend of my granddaughters') has had her leukemia come back. She had it when she was in Kindergarten and now it is back. Please keep Laura and her family in your prayers. This really is shaking their faith right now. Thank you!

For the first card I stamped a couple of butterflies on white card stock and then cut them out. I used some of GKD wonderful patterned paper packs for the back panes. The half circle and tag were stamped lightly with a leafy branch and I heat embossed the sentiment.

For the second card I found the challenge over at JUGS to create a faux embossing card - well, I had not even heard of that before so I decided to try it and since I have another granddaughter birthday this week I chose to make her a card. Cool background isn't it?

The challenge this week is; "to use both dark and light. Opposite colors; black/white, brown/ivory, deep blue/baby blue, red/pink etc."

This week's sponsor is Pizzazz Aplenty  with a $10 surprise package.

Don't forget to stop by my SSIC design sisters (listed on the sidebar) to see what they have to share this week.

It is always great to see you, thanks for the comments and have a wonderful week surrounded with God's love.

Feel Better

Hi, I am back with another card. Told you I was on a roll! Today's is very different from yesterday's card. I really liked this sketch from Mojo Monday - it was fun!

This one I used my Cuttlebug and a folder to give it a bit of a rough feel. The flowerpot and flowers I did through coloring the stamp with Memento markers and then stamping it. This was my third attempt and I really like the way the pot turned out! Then I scrounged around for a sentiment to put on it. I like the result - hope you do too!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Flower Frenzy

Hello fellow bloggers! It was a lovely day here in sunny Florida. Too bad I was at work! I have been on a card making roll lately. I just want to finish this blog post quickly so that I can get mack to my craft table - ideas are running through my head and I only have a few precious hours a day to create. Here is one I finished last night and photographed after work today - told you it was a beautiful day!
I found this sketch at Card Patterns and gave it a whirl. I stamped the flowers several times and cut them out. They are all popped up. Now if you see this stamp set by Melanie over on Stamp TV you may notice that I chose to put some cut leaves under the blossom - clever but also a cover-up! I did not like the way I colored the buds so I covered them up. Those need more practice.
Well, back to the craft table - I have another card almost done!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Refuge: Psalm 91:4a

Happy Sunday - this has been a horrible week for many people in the USA with weather tragedies and violence. Please say a prayer that they may find refuge both physically and emotionally. Thank you for joining us for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week Kris brought us our challenge based on Psalm 91:4a - to read her devotion please stop by our home page, you will not be disappointed!

"He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge."

Such a wonderful verse for which I chose an image of a swan. Swans seem so graceful and seem to exude peace and serenity. That is what God wants for us - to feel His arms (wings) around us so we feel engulfed totally in His love.

I stamped the swan on white, then masked it so I could sponge in the water and the sky. I used the same color blue just sponged more layers on the water. I used a Copic gray color to highlight the wings a bit on the swan and some around the shadow in the water. The weeds were an afterthought - stamped and cut them out. The background was done with the sponge and a smaller rectangle to use as a mask to make it look layered. Works well when you do not have a shade of cardstock that coordinates well.

The challenge this week is; "Things with Wings (Images of birds if you have one, otherwise... angels, b-flies, other things with wings)"

This week's sponsor is Digi Doodle Shop

Aaron's Birthday

Another birthday in our family - this time for one of our grandsons. Aaron is all boy so frills and anything considered cute would not work for him. Here is the card I came up with for him.

Aaron is in a wheelchair right now because he was born with a club foot and has had to have surgery - again. His cast is a camo print so I decided to make the background of this card camo. The way I did that is using the shaving cream technique (found HERE on StampTV). I then used my Copics to color the frog and mushroom. He liked the card - but I think he liked the $10 that was in there better! :-) With soon to be 18 grandchildren that is all we do these days!

Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

Change: James 1:2-3

Lent has begun and it is a time for reflection and change. I made this card with that in mind - how I need to make some changes in my life. I am so glad you could join us for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ!

This week Traci brought us our challenge based on James 1: 2-3 - to read her devotion please stop by our home page, you will not be disappointed!

"Consider it a great joy, my brothers, whenever you experience various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance."

On Ash Wednesday this past week the mass at the school where I teach had a wonderful sermon. Father talked about baseball. Spring training is beginning and for those of us who are baseball fans we eagerly await the games to begin. Then Father tied it into how the players are practicing and preparing for those games. Lent is the season where we Christians are to be preparing our hearts for Easter. We need to look at how we can be better - how we can change. I think the students got the message, I know I did.

The challenge this week is to create a card with variegated colors. This can mean a monochromatic card with various shades of one color, or a card that shows variegated as in a variety of colors, or a pop of bright colors in unison as in a bouquet of flowers. Be creative!!

Wonderful Day: 2 Corinthians 2:16b

It is Sunday again and time for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ! I am certainly hoping that this works since I am enjoying a 4 day weekend away!

Peggysue brought us our scripture verse, 2 Cor 2:16b, and challenge this week - to read her devotion please stop by our home page, you will not be disappointed!
. . ."to the other the fragrance of life"

I love flowers - all flowers! So for another birthday card for another daughter-in-law I chose to use her favorite colors to wish her a wonderful day! I stamped the image twice and then cut out the flowers and popped them up. I used my clear Sakura pen to add some sparkle to the flowers and the butterfly. A simple card but very pretty.

This week's sponsor is - Verses with a $20 GC.

B is for....Blessing! - Job 8:21

It is Sunday again and time for another challenge based on scripture at  Stampin' Sisters in Christ! I hope you are staying warm - lots of cold spots today - great weather to craft though!

This week it is my turn to be your hostess and the verse chose is one that I really wanted to share this week because it is uplifting - to read the devotion please stop by our home page to read it
"Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing."

We have so much to thank God for and what better way then to fill our mouth with laughter and use our lips to rejoice in our good fortune! I cant think of a better way to show the world that the love our our Lord is in our hearts and that we are willing and happy to share that with everyone!

So my challenge to everyone is to make me smile! Create a happy card - happy news - rejoicing in life. And I don't know of many people who do not smile when they see a baby! I made this card for my grandson who will be born in about 6 weeks! They are decorating his room in cowboys so this rocking horse one is just perfect for him.

I used the sketch from Sketches by Carly this week, it seemed perfect for this card. I distressed the background a bit and decided to step out of what I normally do and decided to sew around the outline. I still have a sore sewing finger! I paper pieced the saddle and lightly colored in the rocking horse.

This week's sponsor is - Our Daily Bread Designs. I love this store - some of the best Christian stamps around! Be sure to stop by and look at their wonderful products.

CSS - Inspiration Blog Hop - 2/10/2012

******If you are looking for the WAW/SSIC blog hop please scroll down!

It is another StampTV blog hop. I really enjoy these blog hops, it is such fun to see all the different things everyone comes up with - each one wonderful! This one is an Inspiration Blog Hop, look at this great photo that Karen found for us to use.

You should have arrived from Sharri Seffins blog. I am quite sure that she wowed you!

I had a real hard time with this photo - not sure why because once I got a pep talk from Karen the card just flew together! I focused on the colors and the boats. I created the background using some distress inks on a pad then spritzing it with water before plopping my GKD Pure Luxury Ivory card stock on it. The boat and cattails were colored with the same distress inks and some pen nubs. I backed the stamped image with some GKD Chocolate brown squares and stamped the sentiment (GKD - Whimsical Wishes) just above the boat. Great masculine birthday card I think. The bow was the final touch.

Now hop on over to visit Melissa Shultz! I am sure she has some inspiration for you as well. If you want to start at the beginning  or get lost along the way, just jump directly to the links for all of the wonderful creations on StampTV

Make sure to leave a comment as you hop along because on Tuesday morning (February 14), we will randomly choose one of the comments from all the blogs and that person will receive a huge grab bag of fabulous Gina K. Designs Stamps!
