Big Thanks

I realized that it had been some time since I posted on my blog although I have posted on my Instagram account quite often. The entire interface changed and it is almost like I have to relearn it. But now that I am officially retired (again - long story) I should have time to get the hang of these changes.

Sometimes it is difficult to make a thank you card for one of my adult sons. So I pulled out a stencil from Icraft called Starburst and a new (to me) SSS stamp set called All the Thanks along with the Cosmo Flower die also from SSS. I sponged some on the flowers and used kraft paper with white and a speckled gray.

Posting this for a chance at a SSS Design Team

Thanks for stopping!

BOO!

I pulled out some old and some new for this card. I used the new Spooky Tree dies from SSS. An old stamp set from a company that is no longer around (Mark's Finest Papers) and a technique (AmyR at Prairie Paper and Ink) I saw for glow in the dark embossing powder. What fun that was! Of course mine is not as cute as hers but I think my grand-kids will like it!

Thanks,
Miesje

Glittery Pink Birthday

A very glittery simple birthday card using DecoFoil. I have lots and lots of birthday cards that I send out each month. Most I try to make specifically for the recipient but I also like to have a few in my stash in case I get behind. This one is pink with some fun balloons floating. DecoFoil and some of GinaK's foilable sentiments sure makes it easy to make some quick birthday cards to keep on hand.

Believe in Christmas

I got the star and the Believe in Christmas last year and I am embarrassed to say this is the first time I used it. I think i purchase more than I use - bad me! This is on navy card stock and a star stencil from MFT. The star and believe is using silver glitter paper. I heat embossed the "in the magic of" in navy embossing powder and the Christmas in silver. I also used several layers of the star and believe to add some dimension. The sentiment is on some vellum.

Thanks,
Miesje

Christmas Wreath

I finally had some time to play today! Christmas cards time. This one is using the Merry Wreath stamp set. I popped up the center sentiment and the bow. Just used some inks from GinaK and some Nuvo drops. I gold embossed the bow and the sentiment. I also used some gold Perfect Pearls for the some splatter. I do like the result.

Thinking of You

I had this heart on my craft table from a few weeks ago and had not used it. Today I did. My brother has to have knee replacement surgery so I made this card for him. This was also after watching a video this time by Kristina Werner, I did change it up a bit and I think I added a tad too many gold drops. I did use her blending ideas and a strip along the side. She is amazing and I always enjoy watching her videos.

Thank you,
Miesje

Birthday Wishes

I had a wonderful Sunday watching some YouTube videos and made a few more cards. This card was made after watching Cathy Zeilske make a card like this. I did not have her great sentiments (it is on my wish list) but found something that I could use and I always need birthday cards. The ink blending was fun and I liked the white space below it.

WCMD - Christmas

I managed to get a third card done today, amazing but don't ask me if I got my Saturday chores done! This card totally did not go well, however I was able to salvage it into a presentable card. I had watched a couple of videos with the Festive Flower stamp set and wanted to pull out my colored pencils for the first time in quite a while - and it showed. I really struggled with this. The video showed it on a gray cardstock - I didn't have any so I went with the Kraft. The gold embossing didn't show up as well as I would have liked, in fact the sentiment that was on the bottom could hardly be read. Therefore I cut that off and found my Holiday Seals (the Stamping Village) and used that instead. Card saved! Not my favorite but that is the way it goes sometimes.

WCMD 2019 - Take 2

I finished another card using the same technique as the last card with the Flora stamp from SSS and some Nuvo Shimmer Powders after watching a video from Prairie Paper and Ink. I am glad that I made 2 cards using this technique = thank Amy! I made this one a Thank You card.

Thank you,

Miesje

WCMD - 2019

World Card Making Day 2019 - fun with the SSS Flora stamp and some Nuvo Shimmer Powders after watching a video from Prairie Paper and Ink. This really was just a blast, it truly felt like I was playing. I think I will have to make another similar card while I have all the stuff out since I hope to craft for part of today.

Thank you for looking and check out Amy's video - great technique!

Anniversary Flowers

I love the Altenew flowers, they are great for layering and even when time is short and I just want to get it done! So this is a quick anniversary card for my son and his wife. Just some simple Copic coloring and the background was light ink blending over a stencil.

Fall Tree

Oh what fun I had today pulling out an old stamp set and products. I used distress oxide inks for the background using several colors and an old product called Flower Soft. I am not even sure if that is even still around. I have had this stamp set called "Shadow Play" for a while and it was never used - now it has.

November Birthday

I have not used this fun stamp set from Concord and 9th in a while - I had forgotten how much fun these sentiments in "All Year Long" are! I also used the SSS Leaves stencil (for the background) and die that I smushed in some watercolor paints. I really like the outcome of this card.

Congrats

Just having some fun with stencil and distress oxide inks. I really do like color blending and I liked these bright rainbow colors. I was going to use fall colors but I live in Florida - we MAY get some fall in January - no guarantees though! Either way I wanted to enter one card using Hero Arts products so this was what I chose to do.

Blue Christmas

I learned a lot making this card! That is always a good thing and I am going to share what I learned. I did make the background with alcohol inks and then (I learned) ink lifting - look closely and you can see that there are snowflakes lifted off of the ink. In the process I also learned:

  1. ink lifting works better on newly created backgrounds - I tried it with an older background that I had made and it did not work as well.
  2. heat embossing on Yupo paper doesn't go very well
  3. I should have brought the die that went with this cool set from Waffle Flower - it would have made what I had in my head a whole lot easier!!!!
I heat embossed the Merry on regular white cardstock and then I fussy cut it out. The Christmas I silver embossed on vellum. I then found a few shiny snowflakes for embellishment.

Coloring - Elf

Darn, I ran out of daylight to take a good picture. Well, the chance of me winning is very, very slim - I saw a lot of the entries and I am not even close to a virtuoso! However, I like what I did and I have another Christmas card done!

***I retook the photo this morning so the colors look more authentic but the silver embossed sentiment did not show up. Oh well, I tried!

I used the small brick stencil for the background and blended using distress oxide smoked hickory. I painted Santa's Elves using Zig markers on watercolor paper. It is hard to tell but I used a white metallic paint for the hat edge and sleeves. I also used silver metallic for the bell on his hat.

I appreciate the chance to enter the MFT Superstar contest.

CAS - Dashing

Whew - got one done at least. It is very intimidating looking at all the entries but I decided to try it anyway. Nothing to lose and I finished a Christmas card, that alone is a win.

This was made using all MFT products - the circle was cut out from a background piece I had using alcohol inks which I splattered with a little white ink and some perfect pearls. The background of the card was lightly blended over the MFT Snowfall stencil. The reindeer is from the Santa and Friends stamp set with dies. I made the sentiment circle around the circle for a slightly different look. The image was colored using Copics and a white gel pen was used to give the cover of the reindeer a little added interest.

Thank you for looking - it was fun and as always!

Thankful for you

I learned something new and wanted to try it. Pearl alcohol inks and then heat embossed some leaves from the stitched leaves stamp set. I had the heat tool a little too hot and it did melt some of the yupo paper so I had to cut the panel down a bit. I don't think it hurt the outcome though. I popped up the thankful using several layers. Lots of embossing and lots fun to make. I will be making another one.

Sparkly Birthday Card

I love this Brutus Monroe toner sheet - makes the best background especially for my grand-sons. I foiled using gold foil and added a happy birthday sentiment that I doubled up and slightly off-set for dimension. I also added a little shaker balloon just cuz it was cute!

Baby Girl

A friend became a grandma of a little girl so I took that opportunity to make a baby girl card. I played around with this for quite a while until I got the look I wanted for the sketch challenge this week. I think it turned out really cute with some very light pinks.
